Alberta Health CEO worth the money?

Charlotte Robb is the interim CEO of the new Alberta Health Superboard.  You may (or may not) recall that the health regions as we knew them were axed by the Alta Tories in favour of one large health board.  Anyway, Robb will make about $550,000 per year under her contract.

Health Minister Ron Liepert seems to think Albertans are getting good value since the province was paying health CEOs more before the amalgamation.

I think we’re getting poor value out of the system in general.  Especially the system administrators.  I read headlines about the healthcare system’s failures.  But I haven’t heard from many of the very well paid health bosses who should be standing up and shouting that this system is completely busted and is failing Canadians at an alarming rate.   Instead, they make sure they spend the entire budget to ensure that it won’t shrink next year.  It seems the more you spend, the more you’re doing.

That’s wrong.
